1️⃣ Create an individual health calendar for your dog
Write down the dates of the last:
- vaccinations
- deworming
- tick and flea prevention treatment
- blood and urine tests
- dental check or scaling (if done)
If you don’t have this information, prepare a list of questions to ask your vet during the next visit.
2️⃣ Check your dog’s home first-aid kit
Do you have the essentials (disinfectant, gauze pads, tick remover, thermometer)?
If not – make a list of what needs to be added.
3️⃣ Observe your dog for 2 days and note:
- how much they sleep
- how often they drink
- what their stool looks like (color, consistency)
- if anything concerns you about their behavior, eyes, ears, coat, or paws
4️⃣ Do a mini health and grooming check-up
Inspect your dog’s ears, teeth, paws, nails, and skin.
Write down anything that caught your attention – even small details.
5️⃣ Plan a regular health and grooming routine
Set reminders in your phone or calendar for:
- tooth brushing (e.g. twice a week)
- brushing the coat
- checking ears and paws
- vet check-up (e.g. in 6 months)
If you plan to bathe your dog, schedule it ahead of time to avoid improvising.
